The sidebar, also known as the Data pane appears on the left side of the Workspace. The Data pane contains fields from the data source to which DeepInsight is connected. This table describes the panes in the Data Pane.
Your active workbook.
The dataset from where DeepInsight imported data. The Search icon lets you search for dimension, measure, parameter, and calculated fields listed in their respective fields.
Fields containing categorical information such as customer name, product name, ship method, order date and so on are identified as dimensions.
Fields containing numerical information such as sales, profits, discount, quantity and so on are identified as measures.
Parameters are dynamic values you can change and see how it impacts other fields. When created, the new parameter field appears in this panel. You can also create calculated fields by using a formula based on other fields and existing calculated fields. When created, the new calculated field appears in the Dimensions pane if it returns a text string or a date, or in the Measures pane if it returns a numeric value.
Columns and Rows Decks
Drag fields from the Data pane to build views. When you place a dimension in the Columns or the Rows decks, DeepInsight creates headers for that dimension. When you place a measure in the Columns or the Rows decks, DeepInsight creates axes for that measure. You can add any number of dimensions and measures to these decks.
You can also change the orientation of your chart from vertical to horizontal by swapping the fields in Columns and Rows decks.
The chart accordion is the central hub where you can adjust how your charts look, behave, and calculate. From the chart accordion, you can assign colors to categorical data or quantitative data, use various charting options, select charts, and so on. The decks in the chart accordion are based on the chart type. There is a possibility that not all decks are supported for all charts. This table lists the decks supported for each chart type.
You can filter data from your chart view from the Filters deck. You can apply filters to both dimensions and measures, share filters among sheets of the same workbook, and use various filtering options from the drop-down.
You can format for your view & tooltips by using fonts, shading, borders, and lines.
Bottom of the Workspace
At the bottom of your workspace, worksheets/dashboards you create or open appear as tabs.
These icons : let you scroll opened tabs and make more tabs visible. You can also lock or unlock () your active sheet. Locking is useful when working on a shared workbook.
