DeepInsight installation is straight-forward. This guide covers requirements and recommendations you must consider before you install DeepInsight, and the installation process for Windows and Linux systems.

Before You Install

Make sure the computer on which you’re installing DeepInsight meets these requirements.

Hardware Prerequisites

The hardware requirements vary based on the number of users you plan to support.

Software Prerequisites

This table lists the software prerequisites to install DeepInsight Enterprise.

Administrative Account, Windows Firewall, Drivers

  • Administrative Account —The account using which you install DeepInsight has permission to install software and services.
  • Open Port in Windows Firewall –The port which you will use for https requests in the Windows Firewall software is open.
  • Drivers - You have downloaded JDBC database drivers.

Install DeepInsight Setup - Typical Installation

The software you downloaded comes in a zip file. You must first extract all files to a folder.

Note: On Linux, ensure that the user installing the setup has read, write and execute permissions.

  1. On Windows: Double-click installer.bat file.

    On Linux: Open the terminal and run installer.sh file.

  2. In the Welcome panel, check the version number and click Next.
  3. In the License Agreement panel, read and accept the license agreement and then click Next.
  4. In the Setting Up Installation panel, choose the location for installing the servers and then click Next.

    Note: The destination folder must be empty.

  5. In the Installation Type panel, choose Typical and then click Next. DeepInsight installs all three servers (database server, AI server, core server) on the same system.
  6. In the DMXDeepInsight Account Settings panel, create the DeepInsight login password and boot password (both passwords must be at least 8 characters long), and provide your email address, and then click Next.

    Notes:

    • The username is hardcoded and cannot be changed.
    • If you forgot your DeepInsight login password, use the Forgot Password? link on the DeepInsight login page. If your SMTP settings are configured, you will receive a reset password link to the email address you configure now.
    • You will require your boot password every time Tomcat service is started.
  7. In the Server Connection Details panel, verify/reset default ports of the database server and then click Next. If the default port numbers are busy, you will be prompted to change them.
  8. In the Installation Summary panel, verify the installation summary and then click Next. You can click Previous if you want to change the previous panels.
  9. Click Finish. As the Do you want to launch DMXDeepInsight Now? check box is selected by default, you will be redirected to the DMXDeepInsight Admin portal.

    If you unselected this check box and forgot to copy the admin portal IP provided in the installer, then type this address in any supported web browser: https://localhost:8443/deepinsight/

    Note:The tomcat services take a while to start up, therefore, your browser might appear to be in the loading state. If DeepInsight does not automatically refresh the page, we recommend refreshing your page after a minute.

    After the page is refreshed, you are prompted to provide your boot password. DeepInsight will show its login page. Your username is “administrator.” Type your password and then log in to activate and configure DeepInsight.

Install DeepInsight - Custom Installation

The software you downloaded comes in a zip file. You must first extract all files to a folder.

Note: On Linux, ensure that the user installing the setup has read, write and execute permissions.

  1. On Windows: Double-click installer.bat file.

    On Linux: Open the terminal and run installer.sh file.

  2. In the Welcome panel, check the version number and click Next.
  3. In the License Agreement panel, read and accept the license agreement and then click Next.
  4. In the Setting Up Installation panel, choose the location for installing the servers and then click Next.

    Note: The destination folder must be empty.

  5. In the Installation Type panel, choose a custom installation type, select the servers you want to install, and then click Next.
    • DeepInsight Database Server: database that stores all data.
    • DeepInsight AI Server: artificial intelligence server for clustering of applications.
    • DeepInsight Core Server: application server on which DeepInsight runs.
  6. DeepInsight shows you different panels based on the selections you make in custom installation.

    • If you’ve selected DeepInsight Database Server for Custom Installation
      • Create Admin Login Credentials - You must create a login password and boot password (both passwords must be at least 8 characters long), and provide your email address, and then click Next.

        Notes:

        • The username is hardcoded and cannot be changed.
        • If you forgot your DeepInsight login password, use the Forgot Password? link on the DeepInsight login page. If your SMTP settings are configured, you will receive a reset password link to the email address you configure now.

      • Configure Server Connection Details - Verify/reset default ports of the database server and click Next. If the default port numbers are busy, you will be prompted to change them.
    • If you’ve selected DeepInsight Database Server and AI Server for Custom Installation
      • Create Admin Login Credentials - You must create a login password and boot password (both passwords must be at least 8 characters long), and provide your email address, and then click Next.

      • Configure Server Connection Details - Verify/reset default ports of the database server and click Next. If the default port numbers are busy, you will be prompted to change them.
    • If you’ve selected AI and Core Servers for Custom Installation

      You will directly come to the Server Connection Details panel, where you’ll provide the port numbers for the selected servers, along with the server IP of the machine where you’ve installed the DeepInsight Database Server and the path of the configuration file created after database installation and then click Next. If the default port numbers are busy, you will be prompted to change them.

    • If you’ve only selected Core Server for Custom Installation

      You will directly come to the Server Connection Details panel, where you’ll provide the port number for the selected server, along with the server IP of the machine where you’ve installed the DeepInsight Database Server and AI Server, and the path of the configuration file created after database installation and then click Next. If the default port numbers are busy, you will be prompted to change them.

  7. In the Installation Summary panel, verify the installation summary and then click Next. You can click Previous if you want to change the previous panels.
  8. Click Finish. As the Do you want to launch DMXDeepInsight Now? check box is selected by default, you will be redirected to the DMXDeepInsight Admin portal.

Install DeepInsight - WAR

The software you downloaded comes in a zip file. You must first extract all files to a folder.

    On Linux: Open the terminal and run installer.sh file.

  2. In the Welcome panel, check the version number and click Next.
  3. In the License Agreement panel, read and accept the license agreement and then click Next.
  4. In the Setting Up Installation panel, choose the location for deploying the WAR file and then click Next.

    Note: The destination folder must be empty.

  5. In the Installation Type panel, choose DeepInsight Web Application Archive (WAR), and then click Next.
  6. In the Server Connection Details panel, provide the path of the config file created after the database installation and then click Next.
  7. In the Installation Summary panel, review the installation path and database config path and then click Proceed. The directory in which DeepInsight will place the WAR file is its installation directory. You can change this path by going to the correct panel.
  8. In the Installation Summary panel, click Finish.

    Note: DeepInsight creates .dmxdeepinsight folder in your Home directory. Copy that folder to the location where you would be extracting the WAR file for deployment.
