Overview

You can add a reference line, band, distribution to make comparisons between the actual data and baseline data. For example, goal, range, target, and so on.

  • Reference Lines – Reference lines are vertical or horizontal lines that separate data as above or below a target.
  • Reference Bands - Reference bands are shaded areas, typically indicating when a value exceeds an acceptable threshold. The shaded area covers an area between two relevant values such as minimum, maximum, or median.
  • Reference Mark Points - Reference mark points mark the minimum or maximum data point in the chart.
  • Reference Distributions - Reference distributions indicate the distribution of values along an axis. These are a modification of reference bands and show areas above, below and between the specified values without shading.

Add reference lines

  1. On the toolbar, click Reference Line.
  2. In the Reference Line Options dialog, the Line option is selected by default.

  4. Select an aggregation:
    • Sum - places a reference line at the summed up value in selected scope.
    • Minimum - places a reference line at the minimum value in the selected scope.
    • Maximum - places a reference line at the maximum value in the selected scope.
    • Average - places a reference line at the average value in the selected scope.
    • Median- places a reference line at the median value in the selected scope.
  5. Click Add. DeepInsight adds the formula in the Added Reference area. After you have reviewed the formula, click Save.
